Weight Loss

Well the holidays are over and if you have gained the average 7 lbs during the holiday or have been struggling to lose weight or get healthy, now is the time to make a change.
The new year offers an opportunity to begin to make healthy changes. Nearly all of the people who come to our office with extra weight or poor health have followed one or more “One-Size-Fits-All” programs with very limited success.
In our office we have found that a diet or nutrient program that works for one person may do nothing for a second and make a third person even worse. In others words people are very individual and can have very different outcomes.
The person you can trust with regard to your health is yourself and your eyes. If you look around you notice that all people look different on the outside. We all have a different metabolism – the way that we process foods and utilize nutrients. We all have different Nutritional needs that occur along a broad continuum. What works for one doesn’t always work for another.
Declining Health and Weight Gain don’t have to be Normal Aspects of Aging.
Our Clinical Nutrition pioneers have studied pockets of people all over the world who remained untouched by the Western diet. These cultures followed the wisdom of their ancestors with regard to what they ate and enjoyed a life without modern diseases – cancer, heart disease, diabetes, arthritis and so on. When these same people are exposed to the processed and chemicalized foods of modern civilization, their health rapidly declines and they develop the same diseases that plague industrialized societies.

Because we now know that good health and longevity are directly dependent on nutrition and prevention-oriented health practices, Americans are purchasing gym memberships, diet books, supplements and food products at incredible rates. But we haven’t managed to leave our weight problems behind or put a dent in any of the chronic illnesses.
The Best Program helps us achieve perfect health and weight loss at the same time. With the right health program you can

•Prevent and reverse degenerative disease
•Strengthen your immune system
•Achieve and maintain your ideal weight
•Optimize physical energy and mental clarity
•Overcome mood swings and depression
•Enhance athletic performance and endurance

In our office we offer nutrition-based physical examinations, kinesiological testing, hormone balance restoration, the wisdom of ancestral diets, and a diet program created for your body type. We’ve taken the guesswork and frustration out of continually trying to find the magic bullet and created a system that works, for you.

Nutrititional response testing

Nutrition Response Testing
•Most of our patients are referred to us by other satisfied patients.
•This blog is for those that want to know what “Nutrition Response Testing” is – and part of what we do.

What is Nutrition Response Testing™?
Nutrition Response Testing™ is very precise and scientific. However, if I were to analyze you using Nutrition Response Testing before it was explained to you, you might find it strange, or simply not believable – only because it is probably very different from anything you may have experienced before.

We completely understand that because when I first saw this type of work being done, my first reaction was “Hmm, what is this strange stuff?” No one was more skeptical than I was. As a result, I studied Nutrition Response Testing™ extensively to see if it was for real. And I am sure happy I did because it has helped me improve my health, and because of Nutrition Response Testing™, we are here and are able to help you improve your health.
f you want to get healthy and stay healthy, it is important that you understand what Nutrition Response Testing™ is, and what our recommendations are based on.

Otherwise, you are less likely to follow through and actually do what you need to do to get well. To put it simply, if you don’t follow through, you won’t get well. And if you are not going to get well, why do it in the first place?

The results we have been having with Nutrition Response Testing™ are often in the 90% and better range. The only reason we are here is to help you get well. We have no other reason for being here and, hopefully, you are here for that same reason. That is why I want to make sure you get the correct understanding of what Nutrition Response Testing™ is right from the start.

Let’s get started
In medical practice there are two key parts: the diagnosis (identifying and/or naming the “disease” or syndrome) and the treatment (drugs, surgery, etc.).

In Nutrition Response Testing we do not diagnose or treat disease – but we also have two parts: the analysis and the personalized health improvement program (using designed clinical nutrition).

Simply put, first we do an analysis, and then we design a natural health improvement program to help you handle what we find in our analysis of your body and condition.

First the Analysis
The analysis is done through testing the body’s own neurological reflexes and acupuncture points. The neurological reflexes are derived from the part of the nervous system whose job is to regulate the functions of each and every organ. The acupuncture points are selected from the ancient Chinese system of acupuncture, which is thousands of years old.

Nutrition Response Testing™ is a study of how the different points on the surface of the body relate to the state of health and to the flow of energy in each and every organ and function of the body.

Interestingly, since the human anatomy has not changed significantly in thousands of years, the utilization of these reflexes and specific points have become extremely useful in our practice because they are so accurate!

Think about it
Each Nutrition Response Testing™ reflex represents a specific organ, tissue, or function, and indicates the effect that energy, or the lack of energy, is having on the body. By testing the Nutrition Response Testing reflexes, we have a system of monitoring your body at each visit that has proven to be extremely accurate clinically, and that helps us identify exactly what the body needs and how well we are meeting that need.

Fix it or just patch the problem

Whenever we face problems we usually have two choices how to address a problem, we can either patch or fix the issue. Although they might sound similar, patching and fixing are two very different options. Patching the problem is a short term solution, we try to find something that will help the problem now, without much thought of the future. Fixing the problem is a long term solution, it doesn’t involve just addressing the problem now, but also makes sure that we don’t have to worry about the problem again in the future.

Kinesiology with Chiropractic care is no different than any other problem we face in life. When we start to feel pain, Kinesiology with Chiropractic can offer two options, to to either patch or fix the problem. Both options are detailed out with each patient before we begin treatment, as it is essential that every patient has all of the information necessary to make the best decision with regards to the care.

When we begin to feel pain, it is very easy to get in the mind set that thinks, “I’m hurt, all I care about is feeling better!” This is something, as a Chiropractic Kinesiologist, I see in patients every day. My goal is to try to get them out of this mind set and try to get them to focus on their health long term. Yes, I can make them feel better relatively quickly, but unless they are committed to fixing the problem, it is going to keep coming back over and over again.

If the engine in your car began to leak, you could patch the problem by just pouring more oil into the engine. However, that oil will just leak out, and you are left with having to consistently refill the engine with oil. Using Kinesiology with chiropractic to just get out of pain is a similar situation, the pain will eventually keep coming back.

In many instances, the patient’s pain is caused by a muscles being turned off and a bone being out of position and putting pressure on a nerve and a joint being stuck and not moving properly We call subluxations. Once the pressure is removed from the nerve, and the muscle is turned on the joint starts moving again, patients start to get pain relief. The body can resist this new situation where new muscles and joints feel new stress of the new position. Fixing all the muscles can take time to get all the muscles fixed and change the joint position to one that is biomechanically correct position, so that the pain doesn’t come back.

So, fixing the problem for a Chiropractic Kinesiologist is like plugging a leak in an engine instead of just constantly refilling the oil.

The decision to either patch or fix the problem is always yours. Whether you are looking for a short term solution to get you through the week, or a long term solution that will benefit you for the rest of your life, your Chiropractic Kinesiologist can help.

frozen shoulder (Adhesive capsulitis)

70000+ sites discuss the painful debilitating disorder called Adhesive capsulitis. There are many ideas about treatment of this condition. Most agree that frozen shoulder hits one shoulder at a time, but can recur in both arms in persons who are immune compromised. This condition can take up to two years to resolve. This condition can also leave a patient with loss of range of motion. This varies from patient to patient. Most agree that the cause is mostly unknown.
In shoulder dysfunction, it is rarely the big muscles that cause mechanical deformities. It is usually the Subscapularis, Subclavious, or Pectoralis Minor (although this can vary and could be any muscle that could be problematic).
In treating my mothers frozen shoulder 20+ years ago I found a correlation with her bilateral frozen shoulders with a compromised immune system. Since then I have found that correlation over and over again with many patients. The infraspinatous muscle is related in the acupuncture system to the immune system. Over 20 years I have found that fixing the muscles around the shoulder and supporting the immune system to help it overcome a virus to be the biggest bang for the buck. I have even found patients who had no apparent immune condition respond positively to nutritional therapy that targets the immune system and its relationship to a virus. Manipulation of the cervical spine, clavicle, and humerous brings significant results. Kinesiological treatment involving balancing the muscles around the shoulder joint can not be underestimated.

Roseville Chiropractic, Roseville Chiropractor, chiropractic, chiropractor, dysfunction, disc problems.

5 things a person should do if they know they have a pinched nerve caused by a disc.

1. ICE, ICE, ICE 15 minutes as many times per day as possible (even 15 on and 15 off is not too much)NO HEAT, BATHTUBS, SPAS OR HEATING PADS HEAT INCREASES INFLAMATION I treat many difficult cases that get 50% bettter by using ice only
2. Correct posture (Lumbar) sit as little as possible 400 lbs on disc while sitting, 100 lbs while standing, 40lbs while lying down (Cervical) keep your chin up, don’t read in bed, don’t use two big of pillows, stay off the laptop or devices that cause you to flex your head too far forward.
3. Use nutrition to reduce inflamation. Consider enzyme therapy to reduce inflamation. Adrenal support to work with the body to reduce inflamation (natural cortisol). It will also increase the body’s energy to help the body have energy to heal. Use omega 3′s to reduce inflamation through reduction of inflamatory prostaglandins. LAST RESORT USE DRUGS TO REDUCE INFLAMATION
4. Get muscles in the area of your spine working again. Through Kinesiology and Chiropractic muscles can be turned on and rehabilitated to change the biomechanics of the area involved to reduce the pressure on the disc. WEAK MUSCLE CAUSES BONE OUT OF PLACE BONE OUT PLACE IRRITATES NERVE, FIX MUSCLE PUT BONE BACK IN PLACE DISC WILL HEAL OR REABSORB

Seven Pillars of Health

The Seven Pillars of

With over 30,000 named diseases and the list growing yearly it has become apparent that the real answer to these disease processes lies with foundational functions that give rise to health function and correction of abnormal processes resulting in disease.

We adhere to a 7 pillar approach to the foundation of health, and from this approach over the past 25 years and experience with over 28,000 different people we have found the body capable of correcting virtually all of the misalignments from healthy function that humans experience. During your care here these 7 pillars of foundational health function will be addressed and balanced as well as possible, while also addressing the specific complaint that may have compelled you to seek care. Most people vastly underestimate the body’s ability to successfully achieve change and improvement because they have only tried fighting symptoms and disease while ignoring the underlying functions. This is what we base our success upon.

The following 7 pillars of foundational health are listed in order of deemed physiological priority, with the most important described first:

1. Endocrine/Hormonal Health – The hormones are the most powerful control system of the body and must be balanced in order to activate the body’s other powerful systems of repair and healing. Most people lead challenging lives complicated by hormonal disruption and glandular depression. Gradually we will detoxify the hormone disrupters that interfere and block normal hormone activation, while also tropically strengthening and repairing the seven levels of glands that comprise the endocrine/hormone system.
2. Glycemic Management – The ability of the body to properly control blood sugar and this regulate insulin and Cortisol levels is essential to reducing stress and promoting longevity. Many longevity considerations seek to limit the typical elevation of Cortisol and insulin spikes that lead to premature aging and the complexity of secondary symptoms like lipid/cholesterol imbalance resulting in heart disease.
3. Bioterrain Status – This principally concerns itself over the body’s ability to neutralize the net acid excess that builds up in normal life. When we become too acidic we experience increased inflammation, irritability and emotional intensity. The most powerful effect over this acidity excess if accomplished through the alkalizing effects of certain food and minerals, especially Calcium, Magnesium, and Potassium
4. Inflammatory Status – As we age inflammatory levels increase due to the cumulative repair deficit occurring in our lifestyles. Indeed many believe that an elevated inflammatory level is the entry level doorway to almost all degenerative diseases. Inflammation is powerfully affected by allergens, which act as engines that up regulate our inflammatory mechanisms. Identification and removal of the basic inflammatory engines can reduce inflammation and address the repair deficit.
5. Immune Burdens – Due to incomplete immune process and the use of physiology-interrupting drugs infections, infestations of parasites, and toxicity can be carried in the body as a low grade subclinical burden. Even though we may be unaware of these burdens, they nonetheless exhaust immune functions running down the bone marrow and leaving the body vulnerable to other more lethal issues.
6. Circulatory Status – Recently understanding has expanded to see that loss of circulation can cause tissue weakness and even death (necrosis) resulting in the onset of a complexity of diseases. More and more people are using natural remedies to successfully reverse circulatory blockages and bring renewal and healing to the oxygen/nutrient starved tissues distal to the blockages. In any longevity discussion circulatory status must be addressed.
7. Tropho-Restorative Cycles – The body knows how to repair and correct its’ own imbalances, yet so often these normal corrective functions and misunderstood and thwarted with drugs or lifestyle that interrupts the normal process. Fever is an example of a commonly misunderstood process of correction. It is vital that we become familiar with the difference between a healing crisis of repair and a disease crisis so that the normal self-correcting processes can be allowed to complete themselves and complete correction can be realized.

For many health and disease are mysteries that make them uneasy about the stability of life. It is only because they have never understood how this body was designed to maintain itself. If we are health it is because we have employed the laws that occasion health function, which include each of the above 7 pillars. If disease occurs it is always because the foundations that maintain health have been compromised. It is good to stop living in terror with the mystery of who gets sick and why others don’t. Health has a cause!

Low Glycemic Lyfestyle

The Low Glycemic Lifestyle

America has been accustomed to a high carbohydrate diet. Today there is controversy around the high carbohydrate vs. a low carbohydrate diet. Oftentimes the low carbohydrate diet is misnamed the no carbohydrate diet, but that is not accurate. The reality is that the standard American diet should be called high carbohydrate and a low carbohydrate should be called the normal diet.

Some experts speculate that approximately 90 percent of illness results from carbohydrate metabolism and difficulty. When archeologists wander in the wilderness and discover the skull of an aboriginal people the first thing they do is open the jaw to view whether or not the teeth are still there. If the teeth are in the jaw the skeleton is classified as a hunter/gatherer, and if the teeth are missing the remains are classified as aggregarian (eating cultivated grains). Even this simple classification describes carbohydrate difficulty, wherein primitive people eating a higher carbohydrate grain diet lose their teeth due to the damaging effects of sugar on the body.

Most people intend to control sugar in their diet because of weight gain, although they never seen to succeed in overcoming the sugar cravings. This is because there is more unseen and untasted sugar in the starches from grains than there is from simple sugars that are sweet. It has always been difficult to encourage people to reduce their sugar consumption while leaving them on a high starch diet. Now simply by eliminating pasta, bread, potatoes and rice, and all forms of starch sugar cravings go away. This is because the starches are powder kegs of sugar requiring huge releases of insulin to manage leading to irregular blood sugar level management and subsequent sugar cravings.

Because of our past attitudes towards dietting and sugar control many people believe that low glycemic diets would be difficult. It is quite the opposite, by eating more protein, healthy fats and oils, and the low carbohydrate composition of vegetables and fruits within days there is an elimination of sugar cravings and the beginning of glycemic balance. The results of this are more energy, less inflammation and aching, and less food cravings, sugar especially. The other results are lower triglycerides and cholesterol, reduced body fat percentage and therefore shape loss and weight loss, increased concentration and attention, and increased repair of the protein structures of the body.
Of the three major diseases facing modern-day America, namely heart disease, diabetes and cancer, a low glycemic diet would be preventative and reparative in each case. Indeed when the deeper cause of these three major diseases is addressed it follows to say that longevity is served. Strategically perhaps the low glycemic diet is the most important aspect of an effort to word longevity and vitality.
